Where are you right now?

I am at the golf course. (Laughs) I thought I would be awesome because I got new clubs, and then I just played horribly.

Are you a longtime golfer?

I am, actually. I’ve been playing since I was, like, 13. My dad taught me how to play, and I stuck with it, unfortunately.

So when the show returns — finally — what state is Logan in? Can you remember, since I’m sure you shot it a long time ago?

Let’s see, I think it’s a kinder, gentler Logan. … Yeah, because him and Veronica will be together. I think you’ll see some sweet stuff — I actually look forward to the episode this week, because it’s a different quality, I think, than you’ve seen before. It’s just kind of sweet, because they’re living together and they’ve experienced a lot together, obviously, so that comes out.

So for awhile we’re going to see a happy, carefree Veronica and Logan?

Yeah, totally. And then it’s just gonna go to hell.

Well, what about Piz? Because that’s kind of what I’m waiting for … I want some interaction between Piz and Logan.

I don’t think it’s coming soon, but there are some things … it’s gonna set it up nicely. In the episode we’re shooting next, there’s some of that. I don’t know, what can I say? (Laughs)

I know, what can you say? What are you allowed to tell us?

I don’t know, but Chris Lowell (who plays Piz) is coming up to Sundance, and we’re gonna hang out together. So we’re friends off the set, and on the set we are estranged people of the same lover.

Why are you going to Sundance?

I have a friend that has a film up there, and we have a place up there, too. I’m actually going up with Ryan Hansen (who plays Dick), and I think we’re going to meet Kristen (Bell) up there too. We might all go snowboarding together.

Please tell me there are more Big Lebowski references coming up on the show. I live for those.

I think there are, actually. You saw the Halloween episode with The Dude and all that, right? That guy comes back — but not as The Dude.

What do you know about whether or not it’s coming back next season?

I think if we keep the ratings that we’re at right now … I think we were one of two shows — us and One Tree Hill — to go up in its ratings, so I think that that bodes well for the show. We hit our second-highest numbers ever on the last episode, so I think if we can keep that up,then we can definitely stick around for another year or so.

I was at Comic-Con last year when you said you’d been taking acting classes. Are you still doing that?

Yeah, I am. Not as much as I should — I kind of fell off a little, to be honest, but I gotta get back on that. It sucks, dude — I hate seeing work and then you’re like, “D–n, I could’ve done so much better.” But I think I’m kind of over that now, I’m kind of back on the up. I was very disappointed with my particular performance in the first several episodes of the third season. I’m getting back on track now, which I’m excited about. It was just unprofessional, man, and I want to get those standards back up.

You sound like such a perfectionist.

Yeah, it’s just it’s like when you can see that you could’ve been better, you know … If you think that you can only do a five and you give a five, then you’re fine, but if you can do a 10 and you give a four, then it sucks.

So you watch yourself on the episodes …

Definitely.

Because some actors, they don’t like to watch themselves.

Yeah, I mean when I’ve done bad stuff I don’t like to watch it. (Laughs) But when you’ve done good stuff, I think it’s a pretty cool feeling sitting in the audience. We have gatherings at my house watching the show with all my brothers and sisters, of which I have four, so that’s like a party in itself.

Are you working on any other projects?

I got offered a movie role, but I couldn’t take it cause it shoots during (Veronica Mars)! It was a romantic comedy. It would’ve been so awesome.

Una chiaccherata con la star di “Veronica Mars” Jason Dohring!

L’attesa è quasi finita, i fan di Veronica Mars stanno facendo il conto alla rovescia per il ritorno della serie trasmessa dalla CW prevista per questa sera alle 9. Questa volta la trama gira intorno alla misteriosa morte del rettore O’Dell e per una volta la relazione tra Veronica e Logan( interpretato da Jason Dohring) non sarà sul punto di rottura !! che bellezza!!

Dove ti trovi ora?
Sul campo da golf ( ride). Pensavo avrei giocato bene grazie a queste nuove mazze, ma ho giocato malissimo!!

Giochi a golf da molto?
Onestamente si, da quando avevo 13 anni, mi ha insegnato mio padre, ma sul gioco sono un po’ bloccato sfortunatamente!

Bene, ora che rincomincerà lo show -finalmente- ti ricordi a che punto è Logan?? So che l’avete girato un po’ di tempo fa quindi…
Vediamo…penso che sia il Logan più gentile e docile! Si, perché lui e Veronica staranno insieme, e credo vedrete anche delle cose molto romantiche. Mi sono andato a sbirciare un po’ di cose sullo show questa settimana, perché la qualità di ciò che vedrete è differente. È tutto molto dolce, vivono insieme e insieme hanno fatto tantissime esperienze…e ovviamente questo si nota!

Quindi per un po’ vedremo Logan e Veronica felici e spensierati??
Assolutamente…e poi si ritornerà all’inferno!!

E su Piz cosa mi dici?? Perché, sai, tutto quello che sto aspettando è un po’ di “interazione” tra il tuo e il suo personaggio …
Non penso che vedrete subito questo tipo di cose…verrà col tempo. C’è una cosa del genere nell’episodio che gireremo…non so, che posso dirti??? ( ride)

Lo so, hai ragione, cosa sei autorizzato a dirci?
Non so, Chris Lowell ( che interpreta Piz) verrà a trovarmi a Sundance e staremo un po’ insieme. Siamo amici fuori dal set, mentre al lavoro ci struggiamo per la stessa ragazza.

Perché proprio a Sundance?
Un mio amico ci sta girando un film e abbiamo anche un posto in cui strare , in realtà ci vado con Ryan Hansen e li incontreremo anche Kristen Bell, credo andremo a fare tutti snow board insieme!

Ti prego dimmi che ci saranno altre citazioni su “Il grande Lebowsky” nello show, vivo per questo!!
Si, penso che ci saranno. Hai visto l’episodio di halloween dove si citava The Dude e quelle cose li no?? Il tipo ritorna , ma non come The Dude!

Cosa sai su una futura prossima stagione?
Penso che se gli ascolti rimarranno tali saremo- come one tree hill-in lista per una nuova stagione. Abbiamo raggiunto il secondo posto nel record degli ascolti più alti del nostro show con la scorsa puntata , quindi se continuiamo così ci sono buone possibilità.

Alla comic con l’anno scorso dicevi di prendere lezioni di recitazione, lo fai ancora?
Si, ma non come dovrei…mi sono lasciato un po’ andare e onestamente dovrei ricominciare…ragazzi, odio guardarmi lavorare e poi esclamare: cavoli, avresti potuto fare molto meglio. Ma comunque riprenderò ad esercitarmi. Non mi sono piaciuto in molte performance da me fatte, soprattutto quelle riguardanti i primi episodi della terza stagione. Ma ora sto per rimettermi in carreggiata e sono molto entusiasta di questa cosa. Dio, è stato così poco professionale…devo ritornare ai miei standard!

Sembri davvero un gran perfezionista.
eh si, è un pò come quando tu sai che avresti potuto fare meglio, sai…se sai di poter fare al massimo un 5 e dai un 5 allora sei a posto. Ma se sai di poter fare un 10 e dai solo un 4, allora è un casino

Così ti guardi recitare negli episodi??
Assolutamente si!

No, perché sai, ad alcuni attori non piace riguardarsi…
Bhe, quando recito male nemmeno a me ( ride). Ma quando lavori bene è una bella sensazione stare tra gli spettatori. Di solito ci raduniamo tutti a casa mia, con i miei fratelli e sorelle, e guardiamo lo show…un po’ come ad un party!

Stai lavorando ad altri progetti??

Mi hanno offerto la parte in un film, ma ho dovuto rinunciare perché lo girano proprio mentro io lavoro sul set di Veronica Mars. Era una commedia romantica, mi sarebbe piaciuto.

¿ Dónde estás ahora mismo ?
Estoy en el campo de golf ( risas ) Pensé que estaría impresionante porque tengo palos nuevos , pero he jugado terriblemente mal.

¿ Eres golfista desde hace mucho ?
Lo soy . He jugado desde que tenía 13 años . Mi padre me enseñó  y , por desgracia , no puedo evitar jugar.
 Ahora que la serie vuelve ¿ en qué estado está Logan? ¿ Lo recuerdas?
Veamos. Creo que es un Logan más amable y delicado … Sí , porque él y Verónica estarán juntos . Creo que verás mucha dulzura. Pienso que es algo muy distinto a lo que hemos visto hasta ahora. Es esa clase de dulzura que surge del hecho de que viven y experimentan juntos un montón de cosas.

¿ Así que , por un tiempo vamos a ver a Logan y Verónica como una pareja feliz y despreocupada?
Sí , completamente. Y entonces se va todo al infierno.

Bueno ¿ qué pasa con Piz ? Porque estoy esperando … Quiero algo de interacción entre Piz y Logan.
No creo que suceda pronto, pero hay algunas cosas…Se va a arreglar estupendamente. En el próximo episodio que vamos a rodar hay algo de eso . No lo sé ¿ qué te puedo decir ? (Risas )

Lo entiendo ¿ Qué te permiten contarnos ?
No sé , pero Chris Lowell ( que interpreta a  Piz) viene a  Sundance y saldremos juntos., Somos amigos fuera del set y en él estamos separados de la misma chica.

¿ Por qué váis a Sundance?
Tengo un amigo que presenta una película y nosotros tenemos casa allí  . Voy con Ryan Hansen y creo que nos encontraremos con  Kristen. Podremos practicar snowboard juntos.

Por favor, dime que en la serie  hay más referencias a “El gran Lebowski” .
Creo que las hay ¿ Viste el episodio de Halloween con The Dude? Pues el tipo aparece de nuevo , pero no como The Dude.

¿ Sabes si hay o no una próxima temporada ?
Creo que sí siempre que  mantengamos los índices de audiencia que tenemos  … Hay dos shows ,nosotros y  One Tree Hill , que suben sus índices , así que opino que es una buena señal para la serie . Hicimos nuestra segunda mejor marca en el último episodio , así que si podemos mantener ese nivel , creo que tenemos serie para otro año.

Estuve en la Comic-Con del año pasado , cuando dijiste que habías estado recibiendo clases de interpretación ¿ Aún lo haces ?
Sí , aunque no tanto como debería .Lo dejé un poco ;  pero , para serte  honesto, tuve que volver a ello. Es una mierda , tío . Odio ver mi trabajo y pensar que podría haberlo hecho mucho mejor . Creo que ahora estoy recuperado de eso y que no hay vuelta atrás. Estaba muy decepcionado con mi interpretación en los primeros episodios de la tercera temporada. Me  he encarrilado de nuevo y estoy entusiasmado con ello. Me parecía poco profesional lo que había hecho. Creo que tengo que mantener mi nivel de calidad .

Suenas a perfeccionista .
Sí , es lo que pasa cuando ves que puedes hacerlo mejor .Si crees que puedes dar sólo un cinco y das un cinco , está bien . Pero si puedes hacerlo de diez y lo haces de cuatro , entonces es una mierda .

¿ Así que te ves en los episodios ?
Definitivamente.

Porque a algunos actores no les gusta ver sus trabajos .
Sí , quiero decir que cuando he hecho un mal trabajo no me gusta verlo ( Risas ) Pero cuando lo haces bien , te da  una sensación genial. Tenemos  reuniones en casa para ver la serie en familia . Es como una  fiesta.

¿ Estás trabajando algún nuevo proyecto ?
Me han ofrecido una película , pero no puede aceptarla , porque me pillaba ¡  justo en el rodaje de Verónica Mars! Era una comedia romántica y hubiera sido maravillosa.
